LAB & DATA CENTER SUPPORT AUSTIN, TX CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY

This is a premium opportunity with the world's leading computer component company. Support includes data center, lab, Linux, and backup and recovery. Also included is Service Management functions Asset Management, Incident Management, Knowledge Management, and Service Request Management.

- Must be able to work an 8am 5pm shift Monday-Friday
- Must be able to pass 10 year criminal background checknew, returned expired, recalled for on-demand restores.
- Perform post-tape load processes on tape libraries.
- Recall tapes from offsite storage vendor.
- Manage on-site surplus tape inventory.
- Manage the tape life cycle using backup and library software, and any third-party tools.
- Dispose of damaged or EOL tapes in accordance with Information Security policies.
- Monitor and respond to media errors and tape alerts from backup software and tape libraries.

BACKUP & RECOVERY MONITORING AND CONFIGURATION

- Monitor performance and status of backup processes using backup software, and web based monitoring tools.
- Perform first level troubleshooting of failed backup jobs.
- Monitor health of backup infrastructure hardware.
- Submit tickets to vendors for software, and hardware issues and follow to closure.
- Perform basic computing tasks related to backup and recovery, backup monitoring, FTP file transfer, patch installation, script execution and native tools in Linux and Windows.

- EMC Avamar
- Quantum Tape Libraries and Tape Drives
- HP EML Tape Libraries and Tape Drives

DATA CENTER SUPPORT

This includes site support for Data Centers in Oregon, Santa Clara, Folsom, Arizona, and Austin. Site support areas are:

- All activities including physical touch for installation and break-fix for non-vendor handled issues. This includes all hardware, adds, moves, changes, and EOL.
- Vendor contact for break fix including ticket submission and vendor technician escort where applicable.
- OS installation and patching as requested with intermediate troubleshooting skills.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO HARDWARE:

- Use internal tools to analyze systems and make necessary corrections to repair them.
- Proactive break-fix based on pre-failure analysis reports and compliance with target environment metrics.
- Work with vendor(s) to provide appropriate hardware remediation and escort or supervise Field Support Engineers when onsite as needed.
- Field Warranty support available for hardware by vendor for warranty calls.
- For in-house hardware, contractors may be required to perform hardware failure analysis and parts replacement.
- Scheduling and other administrative aspects of appliance EOL and equipment moves.
