LAB ASSISTANT needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Wilmington DE.

With guidance from supervision, primary responsibility is to assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research. Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations, maintaining laboratory facilities and equipment in accordance with Laboratory standards in order to help ensure the validity and integrity of experimental results.
- This position is an integral part of an important molecular support team whose goal is to provide molecular analysis for plant transformation work.
- It demands molecular knowledge and skills in DNA preparation, PCR and quantitative PCR and the ability to interact with researchers in transformation and quality control functions to ensure that quality results are provided in a timely manner to meet production deadlines
- Responsible for routine DNA extraction, PCR and qPCR and Southern analyses for identification of transgenic events.
- Use molecular tools and quality control procedures to ensure that the analytical data is of the highest quality.
- Analyzing and managing data using different computer software are important skills.
- Efficient record keeping is an essential requirement for this position.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:
- The candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related discipline with excellent lab skills and comprehensive understanding of molecular biology concepts.
- The candidate must have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, a good work ethic and be able to work effectively with minimum supervision.
- Molecular analytical skills and thorough understanding of molecular biology techniques.
- Previous experience with standard molecular techniques including PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR analyses.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as willingness to learn new techniques and procedures.
- Cooperation effectively with team members and other research groups to work on multiple projects.
- Ability to solve problems and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent computer and laboratory skills and attention to detail are required.
