Lab Assistant Job

LAB ASSISTANT needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

TOP SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS:

- Laboratory experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Equipment and lab instrument installation

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Keep lab and operation area clean and tidy (non-chemical related house keeping)
- Receiving dispensing and transferring materials and updating the material inventory
- Arrange and dispatch waste for disposal including packaging materials
- Organize lab items and maintain basic lab supply including ordering
- Label and stock lab supply, equipment and chemicals including the monitoring of inventory
- Operate primitive lab equipment under supervision
- Prepare documents for receiving and shipping including tracking of shipping status
- Aid Scientists with assembly of supplies and labeling of containers for studies.
- Aid PFS Scientist with the assembly, autoclaving and depyrogenations of supplies for studies.
- Assist formulation/vehicle preparations
- Coordinate instrument and lab equipment installation, annual maintenance and calibration including maintenance the list of PM schedule, key user names and operation procedures but not limited to the assistance in the setup and minor repair of instrument/equipment
- Dispose and remove lab instruments, apparatus and any un-needed items. Prepare and retain disposal documents
- Comply with regulatory policies and company guidelines
- Take direction and communicate with scientists on housekeeping status

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's Degree in science and technology or related field
- Excellent written and oral communication skills is required
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work habits is essential
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Be able to move large and/or heavy equipment and material containers
- Be able to be certified to wear other protective clothing/apparatus and to use a Respirator (TB, Spirometry and fit tests) when necessary
- Practical knowledge of Safety Principles for handling chemicals is strongly preferred
- Must be able to work in an environment where hazardous chemicals are used
- May operate lab equipment/instrument with instruction
- Must be able to work in GLP regulatory environment
- Experience that demonstrates mechanical aptitude is strongly preferred
- Must be able to work in the core hours (9:00AM to 4:30PM) of a normal business day
