Lab Assistant

DUTIES
Prepare and maintain mammalian cell cultures, microbial cultures as directed
Monitor processes and alert personnel of known or suspected quality problems. Keep manager informed of production concerns
Perform aseptic laboratory procedures independently
Apply Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to assigned work
Coordinate work assignments, equipment utilization and other department resources
Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete
Learn and demonstrate understanding of basic sterilization principles
Learn and comply with regulatory requirements
Understand and use production schedules
Assist in inventory management of laboratory supplies
Manage and prioritize daily assignments
Use word processor, database, and spreadsheets to compile and report results
Be available for laboratory work outside normal working hours
Interact with interdepartmental customers such as Manufacturing, Central Services, and Quality Assurance
Understand and enforce company policies and procedures (SOPs, GMP, Safety)
Assist in completion of Laboratory Investigation Reports and Quality Assurance Reports

SKILLS:

QUALIFICATIONS
Manual dexterity using hands and fingers
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision work
Capable of lifting 20-50 lbs. routinely
Ability to work flexible hours/shifts/weekends/holidays
Ability to withstand long periods of standing, exposure to temperature variations, disagreeable odors, caustic chemicals, noise, live steam
Exposure to cleaning agents
Uniforms and secondary gowning including masks, latex gloves,
Ability to work in team environment
