LEVEL 3 UNIX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

LOCATION: BUC, FRANCE

Job Description

To provide advanced to expert support for a UNIX based server and Workstation infrastructure, within one of Merlin's Infrastructure support teams and support a global server farm, they will be expected to join project teams for optimization of the infrastructure and operations (deployment and usage of new tool and process introduction, software tool upgrades)

Summary of Responsibilities

THIS WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

- They will solve usual advance to expert issue with Sun and HP based technology, classify and escalate other issues to other senior team members on site or refer to on call,
- They will be responsible for resolving all issues with Hardware and Operating systems with Oracle Solaris, HPUX, RedHat and Oracle Enterprise Linux operating systems on our server farm
- They will be responsible for operate our support tools like SunMC, OpsCenter, Sitescope, Opsware and HPSIM.
- They will lead projects on server support activities (tool deployments, tool upgrades).
- Act as central point of contact for P1 escalations and management of the inbound problems tickets
- Run Team meetings, produce meeting notes
- Complete service documentation
- Provide service updates to staff associated with the service

Update and resolve Incident tickets

Requirements

With 3-5years experience on:

- SUN, HP Hardware
- Solaris, HPUX, RHL or OEL Operating systems
- Remote server management experience
- Solaris Volume Manager, LVM, VxVM experience
- File systems and troubleshooting experience
- UNIX Troubleshooting and log analysis
- Symantec (Veritas) Cluster administration
- Patching Operating systems and Firmware
- Solaris, Linux, HPUX boot process
- User and printer management
- Unix virtualization (Zones, ESX VM, vPAR)
- NAS/SAN experience (Netapp/EMC)

Technical Environment

Oracle Solaris OS (version 7, 8, 9, 10) with proven experience in installing Solaris on Sparc hardware

HPUX OS (version 11.11 and above)

RHEL, OEL Linux 4, 5 and above

Solaris volume manager

Symantec (Veritas) File system and Volume Manager

Symantec (Veritas) NetBackup

Sun Entry level server HW knowledge

Sun Enterprise HW knowledge

HW monitoring, SUN Management Center or Oracle Ops Center

OS and Firmware Patching

UNIX Shell Scripting, Perl Scripting

- IT industry certifications
- SCSA, SCNA, SCSECA

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

- Working hours will be determined by a shift pattern (Monday to Friday, including Bank holidays)
- On-Call to be provide outside of shift hours based on a 1 in 4 rotation
- Requirement for Weekend working will be in-line with service needs
