Our client, a leading pharmaceutical leader based in Basel, is looking for a Junior Scientific Software Engineer/Developer for a project starting end of July 2017 until the end of the year. Are you currently looking for your next exciting project?
Our client is looking for a number of roles to support the Digital Biomarker program. This program's objective is to develop digital biomarkers.
The program's focus areas are:
1) Design digital biomarkers: Define ways to capture clinical outcomes using sensor data collected from smartphones and wearables
2) Develop apps and data processing pipeline: Establish processes, software, and infrastructure to handle big data collected from sensors in clinical trials
3) Deploy digital biomarkers to clinical studies: Generate data to validate approaches and support decision making
4) Analyse and interpret sensor data: Identify signals for disease severity and progression in sensor data collected from patients in trials
Main Responsibilities:
- Establish processes and implementations to handle the big data collected from smartphones and other wearables in clinical trials to discover digital biomarkers
Must Haves:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related technical fields
3+ Years professional software development experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores (hands-on experience not only knowledge)
Experience in or eagerness to build ETL (extract, transform, load) data pipelines
Deep knowledge of Python and one or more of the following programming languages; Java, C/C++, R and Matlab
Fluent in English
Previous working experience with the common Python data analysis (eg NumPy/SciPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, etc) and ideally, data pipelining (eg Luigi) libraries
Ability to write standards-compliant database related code for MongoDB and MySQL
Familiarity with UNIX/Linux internals and workload management systems (SLURM, SGE or UGE)
Strong working knowledge of best coding practices (versioning, TDD, debugging)
Familiar with the Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira, BitBucket, Bamboo)
Strong analytical skills combined with conceptual thinking and structured working style; ability to work in a multi-cultural team
Nice to Haves:
+++ German speaking
+++ Project-based work experience in the pharmaceutical industry/consulting preferred
+++ Experience with the Django web framework and understanding of Front End technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, would be a clear plus
