Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

An opportunity has arisen with one of my Key Accounts for a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Camera Systems Group of a major Marine and Oil and Gas Service Company. This position is with a world leader in the design, development, manufacture and integration of harsh environment marine CCTV systems and underwater video technology mainly dealing with the Oil and gas, Marine, Defence and Nuclear Industries amongst others. The Key responsibilities of the Junior Mechanical Design Engineer include: - Design and Develop new products using current and novel design techniques - Update current designs based on production, assembly or customer feedback - Work as part of a multi-disciplined team - Keeping abreast of latest technology and identify technology developments and resources appropriate to the business needs and engineering activities - Coordinate BOM purchase and supply to ensure mechanical side of projects to meet project timescales or deadlines. - To co-ordinate with other functions to ensure the timely delivery of new products according to an agreed timescale - Where necessary, lead design activities in support of the project manager to achieve project deliverables to time/cost budgets - Preparation of product manufacturing & support documentation - Conduct technical investigations - Liaise with other commercial and technical specialists - To understand and apply relevant design, regulatory and industry standards - Maintain project files and technical records to company standards This role is fairly urgent and I am looking to qualify candidates this week to interview next week with the hiring manager. If you would be interested in this position and you have the following qualifications / skills: - Degree or HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent - Experience of 3D draughting tools, Inventor, Solid Works or Pro Engineer - Competent Microsoft Office skills - Ability to create original solutions, problem solve and undertake technical investigations in a structured and professional manner - Able to plan, organise, prioritise and handle multiple activities simultaneously - Valid UK driving licence - 2 or more years relevant experience with a design office, preferably within the electronics or mechanical design industry - Previous experience of CCTV systems, marine/subsea electronics, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), shock calculations ?Then get in touch with me today to discuss this position further!
