Profs4U is looking for a JBoss Consultant for a Dutch client,
Contract period of 6 months +, Worklocation the Hague
Starting ASAP. 40 hours per week,
Max hour rate 70 euro, ex vat,

Services required:

The services of 1 JBoss Application Server expert consultant are required.

Project Background:

The Unix Application department at the Clïent is responsible for the middle-tier application & Middleware infrastructure, hosted on a large number of Linux Servers. The applications are Java based web applications running in JBoss Application Server EAP 4.3. A project is being launched in order to provide a supported and more future-proof version of the JBoss application platform for middle-tier Java applications, namely JBoss EAP 6, in parallel to the existing version EAP 4.3. The project shall be located in The Hague (Netherlands), on-site at the client premises in Rijswijk.

Deliverables:

The JBoss expert consultant shall assist the Project Manager and other technical specialists in the specification, design, planning, and implementation of the new Application Server platform based on JBoss EAP 6.

The main deliverables will be:

- A new JBoss 6 template for deploying and running applications on JBoss EAP 6 in al environments.
- An updated ADS (Automated Deployment System) for deploying J2EE applications on JBoss EAP 6, as well as JMS server applications (Java Message Service), on which some J2EE applications depend. - An updated Apache module to forward requests from Apache to JBoss 6.
- Best practices for migrating applications to JBoss 6, covering changes in the JMS implementation.
- Support of application developers regarding architecture, implementation, and deployment of new applications.

Required skills:

- excellent knowledge of J2EE applications (on JBoss) and Java (at least 5 years experience expected) - excellent knowledge of Apache web server technology
- good knowledge of Java security and Kerberos/SPNEGO as well as certificate administration
- good knowledge of Scripting in a UNIX environment
- good experience of monitoring tools and application performance testing
- excellent working knowledge of English
- team worker being able to work independently and be pro-active
- an understanding of the necessity of a well functioning change management system
- ability to work in a multicultural international organisation

Additional Skills:

In addition, knowledge in any of the following areas would be advantageous:

- Working within a PRINCE2 project environment
- Wiki systems (Confluence)
- Issue tracking systems (JIRA)
