Javascript/HTML5 Web UI Developer

Nomura International seek a JavaScript/HTML developer to join a greenfield E-commerce development. The Fixed Income Technology Web Services function is responsible for the development of web-based Sales and Trading applications for both internal and external clients. The function is responsible for deliver a number of complex global projects for both internal stakeholders and external customers.

Role description:

The function is responsible for developing and integrating the web-based Sales and Trading functionality into a cross-asset Wholesale Single Dealer Platform. We require a highly motivated Web UI Developer to work with the latest technologies to deliver a differentiated web-based offering.

Within this role you will support both the client and team activities by developing functionality and components for a new global Sales & Trading platform. You will act as the bridge, combining design sensibilities and technical skills. You will be able to produce visual prototype designs and then turn them to code that works seamlessly across browsers. Front End development skills using HTML and style sheets (W3C compliant) are essential. In the role you will be expected to deal with the business directly therefore experience of working in a corporate environment would be ideal.

The role requires a high standard of communication skills, and a solid technical background.  The successful candidate will be expected to be able to engineer solutions to new and existing platforms, work closely with global development teams. This role will occasionally also provide general 3rd-line support cover for escalated issues.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

Essential

- Strong understanding of enterprise-grade JavaScript and modular design (ie AMD)
- Strong understanding of JavaScript libraries/frameworks (ie ExtJS, Knockout.js, Node.js etc.)
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS.
- Good working knowledge of HTML 5 standards and technologies.
- Good understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodology.
- Ability to solve complex issues, both individually and as part of a team.
- Maintaining strong relationships with internal users and external clients.
- Problem ownership from reporting to resolution or escalation to another team
- A confident person - articulate, enthusiastic and outgoing.
- Pro-active, energetic professional with strong communication and networking skills.
- Experience of managing internal client relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Desirable

- Experience working in a large globally distributed organisation.
- Consultancy style approach to engagements
- Knowledge of Fixed Income and/or FX E-commerce products.
