This fantastic scientific software company currently seek a competent Java developer with key experience with Java 7, JavaScript, RESTful Web Services and other associated web technologies such as Spring, GWT, Hibernate plus others.

Essential
- Practical experience of Client Server web application development using Java 7
- Development experience of highly interactive, web-based user interfaces
- Experience of web tooling; JavaScript/CSS/HTML5/JQuery etc. in an AJAX environment
- Knowledge & experience of web services via SOAP or RESTful
- Experience of working in an Agile environment

Desirable
- Knowledge of web development toolkits such as GWT, Vaadin, D3, etc.
- Experience of working in a continuous integration environment ( with SVN)
- Experience of developing software product using the Spring Framework
- Understanding and experience of Hibernate persistence technology
- Experience of integrating open source tools and libraries
- Experience of memory analysis techniques and tools such as JProfiler/Eclipse MAT
- Experience of writing unit tests with JUnit
- Knowledge/experience of continuous integration tools such as Hudson/Jenkins
- Reactive web UI design covering tablets (smartphones not relevant)

Nice to Have
- Experience of automated quality assurance techniques such as automated coverage analysis, automated style checking, Javadoc
- Experience of complex algorithm design, including machine-learning and reasoning
- Some understanding of web security/authentication
- An understanding of how to apply an ontology to model a domain
- An awareness of advanced DB concepts eg NoSQL, MongoDB, SPARQL, Jena
- A scientific background, ideally Chemistry
