Java Senior Engineer/Developer

This financial institution is one of the largest mutual fund and financial services groups in the world and the technology projects they are working on at the moment are cutting edge and require someone with an innovative approach who likes working in a collaborative environment.

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to work in a dynamic, can-do, and rapid application development environment. The successful candidate will be involved in the full SDLC, from requirements gathering through to production deploymentand support. The Wireless & Alerts (FWA) team is responsible for developing Mobile, Alerts, and automated trading applications and systems.

The successful candidate will find this a progressive and challenging role, with exposure to many cutting edge technologies, processing high volumes of trade data in Real Time.

The key development technologies used are: Java, Multi-threading, Spring, iBatis/Hibernate, MQ/JMS messaging, Unix/Linux, SOAP and REST Webservices

Primary Responsibilities:

*Actively participate in all phases of the SDLC including design, development, and testing.
*Develop original and creative technical solutions.
*Work independently on complex technical and functional analysis.
*May determine and develop approaches to solutions.
*Report status, identify issues/risks proactively, and provide alternative plans for recovery.
*Communicate effectively in a team oriented environment.
*Follow standard processes and methodologies.
*Mentoring of junior team members.
*Help to define development standards for team.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

*BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
*Minimum 5 years of design & development experience in Java/J2EE
*Experience working with distributed teams
*Experience in developing and consuming SOAP or REST webservices.

Skills & Knowledge

*Demonstrated experience developing components of service oriented and event driven architectures is required
*Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at a given time.
*Excellent Communication, written and oral skills
*Team player
*Able to act independently under general direction.
*Experience in MQ or JMS messaging technologies an advantage.

Experience of database frameworks such as Hibernate or IBATIS an advantage
