Java/Oracle Developer

Our client, located in Atlanta GA, is seeking to hire a Java/Oracle Developer for an exciting opportunity. 

Client Details:
Our client is an American basic cable and satellite television channel that is owned as a joint venture between NBCUniversal, and investment firms The Blackstone Group and Bain Capital.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Implement and test software designs at the direction of the development manager.  This will involve producing quality software design and solutions that meet business requirements
- Participate in regular software code and design reviews of all software.  Reviews will include software engineers and will be approved by the development manager. Strive for code quality, simplicity, and efficiency as a core principle
- Effectively communicate statuses to either the development manager, as requested, or project manager as needed throughout all projects. This includes alerting the manager when project schedules might be impacted
- Participate in Agile and/or Iterative Waterfall Software Development.  This includes the development of smaller, more frequent iterative software releases, with changing requirements late in the development cycle
- Work closely with DBA and ETL teams to ensure project success
- Maintain business relationships with internal and external customers by providing world-class customer service
- Produce and maintain designs and design documentation for medium to highly complex software development efforts. Also, produce and maintain the appropriate user manuals, documentation, and training for the customer base
- Manage Bugs/Tasks in bug tracking software for multiple projects and keeping bug/task information up to date
- Unit test software and support the QA department during integration testing, as necessary
- Support production systems and software, as necessary. This includes diagnosing production problems and performing repairs in a professional and timely manner
- Conduct root cause analysis when customer impacting issues surface
- Research and document technical information for use by the software engineering team
- Build, install, and deploy software in various development, test, and production environments as needed
- Strive towards proficiency with latest Software Engineering practices and languages as directed by the development manager

QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of hands-on, software development
- 3+ years' experience with Object Oriented Design and Development
- 2+ years of recent hands-on experience developing or supporting large, complex software applications on a Windows platform
- 5+ years of experience in a majority of the following areas:
- Languages: Java, JSP/XML/Bash/Python
- Java API: Apache Struts (MVC)
- Databases: Oracle (stored procedures, packages), SQL
- Version control: GIT/Subversion
- OS: Linux, Windows Server

EDUCATION

- Bachelors (or higher) in Computer Science or related experience
