Java/J2ee Developer

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Java developer in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be joining a growing team of exceptional engineers who are delivering innovative tools and applications powered by advanced mathematical algorithms.

This role is expected to contribute heavily to the development and support of the clients products, based on Java EE, Eclipse RCP and Web 2.0 technologies. In particular, this role will focus on the creation of high-quality re-usable UI components.

The experience required for this role is flexible, hence the salary range.

Essentials:

* BSc in Computer Science/Software Engineering or similar/related discipline or equivalent experience
* Experience of using Java in a software development role for a commercial software product
* Knowledge of the software engineering discipline, processes and methodologies

Desirables:

* Preferred experience of Java EE 6, EJB3, JBoss, Hibernate, JPA, Spring
* Preferred experience in one or both of

* Web 2.0 technologies e.g. AJAX/JavaScript frameworks and Web Services/ REST/XML/JSON
* Eclipse RCP/Eclipse Plugin/OSGi development
* Experience of developing in an Agile methodology would be an advantage

* Experience of other programming languages e.g. .NET, C, C++, Python, Groovy would be an advantage
* A flair for creating visually appealing user interfaces would be an advantage

Location: Birmingham
Type: Permanent
Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience and skills)
Start date: ASAP, notice period permitting
