Java Developers

For our international institution client in The Hague we are looking for Java experts for the development and maintenance of middle-tier applications.

Candidates should have excellent communication skills both oral and written in English;with strong organisational skills to work under pressure and prioritise tasks based on business severity and impact;

Tasks include:

- Participation in system design specification sessions to document technical specifications and to provide design options and solutions;
- Coding and maintenance using technical specifications to update existing applications and/or to develop new ones;
- Development of applications following industry best practices and available guidelines;
- Ensure that builds are properly deployed in development, system, acceptance and production environments;
- Review code to identify and fix errors;
- Prepare test cases and strategies for unit testing and integration testing;
- Provide support and assistance to operational teams in their activities through the complete software release life cycle 

Deliverables:

- Source code changes for the maintenance of the software systems in the scope described above;
- Technical documentation of any software changes;
- Enhanced regression and load test scripts;
- Regression test results;
- Packaged software;
- Source code review of 3rd Party software developments.

Mandatory skills:

- Languages: Java (JDK 6+), SQL, CSS;
- Parsing tools: Antlr;
- XML-related technologies: JAXB 2.x, XSD, XSL;
- Web technologies: DHTML, JSP 2+, Servlets 2.4+, Ajax, Jackson/Jettison;
- Web services: JAX-WS and JAX-RS (Resteasy), good understanding of REST principles;
- Database Servers: DB2, MS SQL;
- Familiarity with Lucene, Elasticsearch;
- Building and CI tools: Maven 2/3, Jenkins;
- Frameworks: Spring Framework 3+, including Spring MVC; Hibernate 3+ and JPA;
- Server Technology: JBoss 6.x,Tomcat 6.x;
- Operating Systems: Unix/Linux (SLES 10), Bash and GNU/Linux command line;

Knowledge and experience in the following technologies is of advantage:

- Javascript,
- Spnego/Kerberos;
- Hazelcast;
- image processing and implementation of OCR techniques;
- MongoDB;
- Atlassian JIRA and Confluence;
- Ant and Nexus;
- IDE and revision control: Eclipse 3+, SVN; 
- Fitness;
