Java Developer - Swing, API, Agile

JAVA DEVELOPER

Key Experience:

- Creating, configuring and maintaining Spring Boot applications to provide REST APIs and batch processing.
- Creating a Spring Boot batch service to send emails and process incoming emails.
- Ensuring that all resources are architected to meet strict security requirements.
- Integrating with MS SQL Server databases.
- To the greatest extent possible, future proofing of new solutions in line with the strategic direction of the department.
- Documentation of all work, with a view to handing over the role at the end of the contract.
- Ensuring that our excellent uptime record is maintained through thorough testing, solid release planning and adherence to our Change Management procedures.

KEY SKILLS:

Essential

- Java Development - Professional Standard required
- Spring Framework (preferably including Spring Boot) - Professional Standard required
- REST API development with Spring - Professional Standard required
- Excellent understanding of Relational Databases.
- JPA (Java Persistence Architecture)
- AngularJS
- Message oriented Middleware experience. Preferably RabbitMQ.
- Linux Shell Scripting.
- Strong experience of (and commitment to) source control best practice - ie Git/GitHub.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Agile/SCRUM development experience.

Desirable

- Familiarity with HATEOAS
- JavaScript
- Bootstrap
- Docker
- Continuous Integration with Jenkins
- MS SQL Server (writing own queries, calling SPs etc.)
- Connecting to Exchange Servers/Active Directory
- Experience of process automation (auto emails, SMS nudges etc.).
