Java Developer - Oxford - 6 week Assignment

Development Consultant / Technical Consultant - Oxford (c. 300 - 420pd + all travel + accommodation + up to 35pd for food)

A unique Development Consultant (Java / J2EE Developer) and agile enablement opportunity to join a prestigious Management Consulting firm. With demonstrable coding experience in an agile software development environment, you will successfully assist in the utilisation of technical agile & lean initiatives, enabling an corporation to effectively change, bridging the gap between business and IT, by helping their development teams understand and visualise the benefits of producing high quality code in the software delivery process.

Through the provision of a blend of agile & lean techniques and systems thinking, we strive to inspire change, promote excellence and achieve objectives through quality delivery. You will be expected to use your extensive Java Enterprise Edition programming skills (J2EE), knowledge of the Spring framework and product suite (Spring Batch, Spring Integration, Spring Security, Spring Web Services, Spring Web Flow, Spring MVC) and VMware / SpringSource to help improve how our clients create and deliver software products. To do so, it is essential that you possess strong interpersonal & communication skills, as well as a strong technical acumen, with the ability to work in a robust enterprise environment, achieving maximum productivity and efficiency - it's all about producing clean code & support those around you as they embrace a new way of working!

Not only will you be able to verbalise and demonstrate your technical offering in a coherent manner, but it is vital that you have a natural ability to engage with multi-dimensional teams, including principal level business stakeholders, technologists and lay audiences, in an enthusiastic and supportive manner - a passion for technology & agile Java development will be essential.

You will have previous exposure to software development or enterprise level build teams, assisting the transition and adoption of agile & lean techniques that include Scrum, Test Driven Development (TDD), Behavioural Driven Development (BDD) and Continuous Integration (CI). Prior experience of the Spring framework / product suite and VMware will also be key.

The ideal applicant will be knowledgeable regarding agile methods and becomes enthused when communicating and introducing the benefits of such philosophies to inexperienced agile teams. You will also be proactive in utilising agile methods to aid those outside the team, emphasising collaboration and promoting team work.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated Java / J2EE Development Consultant, Technical Team Lead or Architect with a good grasp of Spring & VMware, to share their appreciation of agile and software development, helping the evolution and growth of a new agile team.

Location: Glasgow
Duration: 6 weeks to start with possible extension
Start date: October 2012.
Remuneration: 400 + all expenses.
