Java Developer (NATO)

1. University Degree in informatics, computer science or a closely related engineering field
2. A minimum of two years' experience in the implementation of information systems,
3. Detailed knowledge and recent experience (a minimum of 12 months in the last 24 months) in the following areas:
a. Web Application Development, Web Site Design/Development, Software Engineering, Database Maintenance,
b. Java programming language (including object-oriented programming). This includes detailed knowledge of the J2SE 1.7 and 1.8 platforms and its main packages. A Java Certified Programmer certificate received in the last 12 months is acceptable for this requirement.
c. Designs in cross-browser, standards compliant HTML5 & CSS3, with good knowledge of backwards compatibility.
d. Knowledge about JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS, BackboneJS, Ember, and React.js.
e. Application of responsive web design principles and experience of working with dynamic web applications.
4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms (sufficient to perform the programming tasks on that platform)
5. Practical experience in the following areas is desired
a. Any ability with JavaScript/jQuery would be seen as highly advantageous.
b. Any knowledge and experience of applying UX principles, User Centred Design and the semantic web would also be seen beneficial.
c. Working with software with a large codebase
d. Configuration Control to software releases/production
e. Using Integrated Development Environments and source code control tools
f. Working in a software development team
g. Writing technical documentation (requirements, design, architecture) as related to the software development project
6. Fluency in English since the work is conducted in English
7. The candidate must have a NATO SECRET security clearance provided by the national security organization valid at the time of submission of the bid covering the period of the requirement.
8. The candidate must have the nationality of one of the NATO nations.

Due to the nature and urgency of this post, candidates holding or who have held high level security clearance in the past are most welcome to apply. Please note successful applicants will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment which can take up to a minimum 10 weeks.
