Java Developer-Guidewire

My client a leading Australian employer is looking for an experienced Java Developer with expertise in Guidewire and Claimcentre experience to join their team an initial 6 month contract.

As the Java Developer, you will utilise your commercial Insurance experience, including Guidewire and Claimcentre experience to develop and maintains application software.

Responsibilities include:

- Analyse system requirements and develop technical design
- Develop and maintains application software
- Conform to quality assurance standards and agreed processes within the department
- Support the application software by analysing and fixing problems as required
- Perform unit and integration testing on developed code
- Work with testers using ATDD principles and instrument test as required.
- Produce thorough and effective unit and system test plans and participate and/or support further testing phases
- Provide technical advice to the business customers on business opportunities
- Identify technical improvements that will benefit the business
- Provide input to or develop business systems solutions, estimates and specifications
- Provide input into team process improvement initiatives
- Assist with investigations into potential solutions, liaise with relevant technical experts and contribute to solution design and costing
- Utilise agile methodologies
- Mentor other team members by reviewing their output and accept responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the team's deliverables.
- Provide timely and effective advice on progress and ability to meet service and solution deliverables within agreed expectations

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the following skills and experience:

- Proven experience as a Java developer, including Commercial Insurance Experience and products such as Guidewire Claimcentre experience.
- Strong agile methodology knowledge and understanding
- Knowledge of relational database management systems
- Proven knowledge of change management practices in a parallel development environment
- Exposure to job scheduling software for the smooth operation of batch type jobs
- Good working knowledge of the appropriate operating system environment and its related tools and utilities.
- Expertise using Java, GScript, JIRA, Confluence, Haml, Subversion
