A major investment bank has an opportunity for a Java Developer to join their Algo trading and HFT group and form part of a front office trader facing team. The client is seeing rapidly increasing trading volumes in the European futures business and is upgrading their technology to improve real time basket pricing and trading capability. The current system sits on top of a third party algo engine and you will be responsible for re-developing the Java based trade composition system which the business use for basket pricing.

This role is best suited to a Java Developer with solid experience of front office and real-time trading systems development within the investment banking sector. You will form part of a skilled, communicative team with a strong technical bias towards core Java who are experienced in developing software for real time, computationally intensive systems. They are looking for a talented software engineer with a solution driven approach and the experience of overcoming development challenges on real time trading systems in the front office.

Experience of Algorithmic Trading systems development and/or postgrad qualifications like MSc/PhD are very desirable. You will have very strong core Java coding skills and enjoy working closely with the trading desk. You will also have sound knowledge of Eclipse and demonstrate the ability to pick up new technologies quickly (e.g. JMX). Strong knowledge of garbage collection tuning and performance tuning is essential.
