Java Developer/$40 - 50/hr/Struts1 Experience

JAVA DEVELOPER

Growing and fast-paced company downtown has an immediate need for a Java Developer on a contract basis. If you are passionate about the next generation of the Web and want to improve user experience in online applications, then they will want to talk to you! The right candidate will work well in a small team environment and will be eager to expand his or her knowledge and programming skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

- 5+ years' web application development experience with Java, Apache Struts 1.x, JSTL and JSP
- 3+ years' experience maintaining large, technically complex web-based systems
- Solid understanding of Web 2.0 technologies (HTML, JavaScript/JQuery, CSS)
- Must have understanding of Struts 1.1 and Hibernate
- Proficient knowledge of SQL for ad-hoc complex queries and creating views using Oracle.
- Strong commitment to maintaining quality software
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop new features, maintain and support Java web-based applications. Must know Java/J2EE, Apache Struts 1.1, Java Standard Tag Library (JSTL), Java Server Pages (JSP), Java JDBC, and Web 2.0 technologies like jQuery.
- Applications are similar in features, functionality and business use.
- All applications sit on Apache Tomcat locally and on WebSphere with Oracle Back End. They use eclipse as IDE.
- The applications are based on 1 code-base copied into unique applications.
- Create, test and deploy minor feature enhancements to any or all applications. Deployment uses Ant to create build files.
