Java Developer

Shortlist are working with an Award winning Software House in Cambridge who are looking for a talented Java Developer.

The Java Developer will involve taking an active part in the team, carrying out developments to meet specific customer requirements as well as helping move forwards their highly scalable, high availability architecture using the latest web-scale/open-source technologies.

As well as hands on development, the role will include involvement in architectural and design decisions at all levels. It will include identifying, championing and integrating new technologies and approaches.

Skills required for the Java Developer

* Java
* 5+ years' experience in software development
* Apache, Tomcat, Jetty
* Linux
* Cloud platforms e.g. Google Cloud Platform or similar
* Containers (specifically, Docker)
* SOAP/REST/XML
* Practical experience of large scale, highly available systems
* Practical experience of dealing with JVM issues (e.g. garbage collection tuning for scalability)
* Understanding of software engineering principles, build/deployment environments and approaches, QA issues
* Agile software development

The successful Java Developer will be paid £400-500 per day for initally 3 months.
