For our banking client in Bern we are currently looking for a Java Developer:
Start: 1 April 2014
Duration: 6 months
Location: Zürich
SUMMARY:
The main function of a developer is to develop, create, and modify general computer applications utilizing Java and J2EE. A typical developer is responsible for designing applications or customizing applications for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency. Furthermore he/she provides 3rd level support services for internal business customers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
- Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
- Assure high quality of work products according to customer requirements in the committed time
- Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met
- Design, develop and modify software systems, using OO Analysis, OO Design with UML and J2EE technologies
SKILLS: PREFERRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL):
- Strong Java programming skills (Java 6)
- Strong understanding of the JEE technologies (JEE 5, EJB)
- Hands-on experience with Service Oriented Architectures, particularly w. Web Services
- Commitment to & experience with test-driven development (JUnit, Continuous Integration, )
- Experience with Eclipse & Subversion
- Strong understanding of relational database design
- Strong adherence to standards in the area of Java, JEE, Guidelines, Architecture
- Strong commitment to test-driven development (JUnit, Continuous Integration)
PREFERRED SKILLS (NON-TECHNICAL):
- Fluent written and spoken German
- Good written and spoken English
- Strong soft skills to handle stakeholders with different background (Requirement engineers, Project leads, Programmers, Offshore resources, Testers etc.)
- Strong ability to work both independently and integrated in a project team
- Good time-management
ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS:
- Experience in application development projects following incremental and iterative approaches (RUP, Agile)
- Good understanding of Patterns (Design)
- Strong understanding of OO Analysis, OO Design with UML
- Experience in Credits domain, Risk Management
- Motivation to contribute software improvements in an interesting environment experience in banking or finance industry
- Experience with workflow, particularly with workflow automation/straight-through-processing
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent training required. 5 or more years experience in Java/JEE engineering in application development projects
