Java Developer

As a Java Software Engineer in Asset Allocation Technology the individual will play a key role in designing, developing and testing a research platform to support the R&D of advanced financial planning methods. A qualified candidate will be highly motivated and self-starting, able to contribute within an agile delivery team; and be well versed in investment and financial planning concepts, with a track record of delivering software components that apply rules-based business logic and financial mathematics.

While delivery may mean automating or engineering, it will also come in the form of troubleshooting and support, reverse engineering requirements and documentation.

This team builds and supports investment management, research and operations platforms, offering scalable investment and financial planning solutions for model and managed account products.

Primary Responsibilities

* Develop next generation financial planning and analysis engine for 1) Research 2) a set of financial libraries that can be used by Managed Accounts or Guidance platforms
* Design a robust research environment supporting the generation of new product ideas, employing 3rd party products and developing modular business components that can be utilized in production by various platforms
* Transform requirements into enterprise strength software from prototypes, white papers and/or by partnering with the research team
* Operate as a key contributor to a delivery focused, iterative development team frequently delivering enhancements to our research and production environments
* Documentation of methodology and technical specifications
* Contribute ideas and effort to improve delivery process

Skills and Knowledge

* 6+ years of Java development or equivalent experience
* 2+ years SQL experience, preferably Oracle
* Strong OO analysis and design skills
* Linux/Unix administration skills desired
* Moderate Excel/VBA knowledge desirable
* Financial industry background including building financial planning and wealth management or portfolio management solutions

* Developing components/sub systems for a computationally intensive business problem
