Java Developer

PROJECT SCOPE/TASKS

The scope of this project encompasses the following tasks:

Provide development support in writing and updating Java language code, Java EE and distributed programming (multi-tier architecture) for online and batch application

Translate technical specifications and/or physical design into code for enhancements and changes

Identify and resolve defects using the configuration management tools and processes

Create and modify batch jobs for the application using the batch architecture framework

Write Oracle Structure Query Language (SQL) and read system data models

Create and update web services using Java technology components

Create and modify, and interpret XML code and documents

Create, modify and maintain forms

Create and modify JUnit scripts

Create and modify Java Server Pages

Create and modify Cognos reports for the application

Assist Business Architects in creating and modifying the requirements documentation

Lead JAD facilitation techniques for gathering requirements and performing requirement analysis

Participate in test inspections throughout life cycle to identify issues and verify methodology compliance of the application

Develop and support Health and Pension business areas with key processes and functionality issues/questions

Create and provide ad-hoc extracts and reports for business users

Support implementation and deployment of production release activities

Peer review code for team members and provide timely feedback

Provide technical documentation as needed

Act as SME in answering and resolving questions/issues with the system, business rules explanations/interpretation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Additional mandatory minimum qualifications:

Five (5) years' experience as a Java (J2EE) Developer

Five (5) years' experience developing in Object Oriented and web interface applications

Three (3) years' experience as a Lead Developer

Two (2) years' experience developing and/or supporting web applications for Public or Private Pension Systems

Three (3) years' experience with the Spring Framework

Three (3) years' experience developing web applications utilizing XML

Three (3) years' experience with Oracle Databases

One (1) year experience with Clear Case; Clearquest or similar configuration tools

Five (5) years' experience with SQL

One (1) year experience with Eclipse IDE or similar tool

Five (5) years' experience using the SDLC methodology proficiently

Five (5) years' experience translating technical specifications and/or physical design into code enhancements and changes

Knowledge and experience using Unix (Shell programming), Linux

JAD facilitation and conducting design and code peer reviews

Five (5) years' experience using strong analytical skills for evaluating business needs and developing innovative solutions

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to work effectively with all levels of technical staff and management

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year experience with Ilog JRules (within the last three (3) years)

One (1) year experience with Web Services, COTS integration, and design patterns (within the last three (3) years)

One (1) year experience with Workflow/Oracle BPEL (within the last three (3) years)

Knowledge of public pension systems

Knowledge/experience with Governmental Retirement and Health Benefit Program functions and processes similar.

UML Modeling

Knowledge and experience with Adobe LiveCycle

Knowledge and experience using Reporting Authoring

Strong leadership skills with ability to multi-task, to use tact and to employ good judgment
