JAVA DEVELOPER

SKILLS: JAVA SOFTWARE ENGINEER, J2EE, DEVELOPMENT, MAINTENANCE, SUPPORT, SQL, SQL SERVER OR ORACLE

SUMMARY:

Our client is seeking a proven Java Developer who will be responsible for developing and maintaining quality software specifications and code for their Services Applications team. The ideal candidate is a mid-level Java Developer, with emphasis on support, has programming and architecture experience with J2EE technologies, as well as BA requirements gathering experience. This role will be doing mostly Back End development, with some Front End, supporting 4-5 internal applications in a Tier 2 support environment with some new development. The candidate should be comfortable working in an agile software development environment, including emergent architecture, changing requirements, and changing priorities. The developer will work extensively with other internal business units; strong interpersonal, communication and customer focus skills are required. This is a 3 month contract opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Responsible for product installs, upgrades, patches, configurations using change control procedures.
- Provide technical support for the application by diagnosing and correcting software malfunctions
- Perform research and evaluation of the software design and implementation options while making recommendations as for go forward decision
- Occasionally carry pager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5+ years of experience in programming on enterprise systems
- Minimum 5 years of experience in software development and product support
- 5+ years of support experience using a J2EE technology like Knova on Tomcat/WebLogic Server/WebSphere Server.
- 3+ years of experience with SQL databases like MS SQL Server or Oracle, including sound knowledge of SQL
- Strong analytical and debugging skills
- Understanding of different attributes of Knowledge Management systems and how they work. ie Knowledge of Knova
- Familiarity with SAP CRM a plus
- Operating knowledge of Web Services, XML, XSL, HTML, JavaScript, CSS
- 1+ years of development on Windows Server environment (Windows 2000 and above)
- 1+ years of operational experience with IIS (5 and above)
- Ability to understand and effectively utilize the technical development environment
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of PHP a plus
- Experience with mobile technologies is a plus
- 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems
