Java/Cloud Developer

Our client is seeking an experienced software engineer to play a senior role in a recently formed team that will research, design and develop new software components and applications for their company using cloud technology.

The candidate must have considerable skills and experience in the following areas:
- Excellent Software Engineering skills, insights, and experience.
- Excellent Java skills as well as thorough knowledge of Java frameworks.
- Spring
- Hibernate
- Maven
- Expertise in one or more technical aspects of cloud computing, ie:
- cloud development
- cloud-based storage and retrieval
- big data analytics
- Proven experience with commercial or open source cloud development tools and approaches (Amazon, HDFS, HADOOP, MAP-REDUCE, NOSQL, ...)
- Proven experience in several programming languages and paradigms, and an interest in applying new development tools and technologies.
- Algorithmic proficiency
- Experience with software development life cycle and software quality
- Knowledge of/experience with commonly used development environments and code management tools

Apart from these pure technical skills, the ideal candidate should also possess:

- The ability to be productive in a team, to assist and guide other team members when required, and to help improve the team's productivity
-The ability to work independently and pro-actively.
- A strong quality orientation, combined with a pragmatic attitude to deliver
- Strong command of English
- Good communication and writing skills
- Experience working in an agile environment, acquainted with the SCRUM project life cycle
