Java Architect

We are currently recruiting for a Java Architect for our client in Brussels for a one year contract with extension

Job Description

- The operation of a Development Factory for implementing and supporting IT solutions;
- The operation of the Architecture Office for supporting the SOA actions and the co-ordination of the important IT community of the Research DGs;
- The operation of a Business Analysis team for understanding the business, safeguarding the business knowledge and proposing IT solutions.
- The provision of Service Management and Operations for the H2020 Information Systems.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS

- Architecture and design of information systems
- Review of the architecture of existing systems
- Design and development of component architecture and building blocks
- Analysis of the integration of different information systems
- Develop scripts and perform tasks in order to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various environments
- Manage Code Repository (understand impacts of branches and code merges)
- Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
- Communicate release details and schedules as required
- Data analysis and Datamodelling
- Data quality management
- Support Liaison activities
- Coordination of the implementation of the technical architecture
- Technical interface between the project leaders and the developers
- Production of software architecture documents
- Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users
- Assistance in the testing, the technical documentation, the deployment, the evaluation and the reporting

OTHER PRECISIONS

The candidates shall have:

- The experience stated in the framework contract for the requested profile.
- Practical experience proving the capability to execute the tasks described in 2.
- Rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working.
- Proactive attitude, communicative (ie good listener) and customer-oriented.
- In-depth knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture
- In depth knowledge of applications design
- In depth knowledge of modelling tools
- Good knowledge of Object Oriented Programming languages
- Good knowledge of Enterprise Architecture
- Very Good knowledge of Relational DBMS
- Good knowledge of business process analysis
- Knowledge of interoperability technology (eg web services, message oriented Middleware, service oriented bus)
- Good knowledge of Jasper
- Excellent knowledge of SQL
- Experience with ETL process
- Good redaction skills.
- Ability to give technical presentations.
- Ability to apply high quality standards
- Ability to interface closely with the Operational Support Team
- Problem solver and analytical skills
- Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application architecture and design
- Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, good communication skills.

Education and experience:

- Minimum 10 years' experience in architecture and design of information systems
- Minimum 14 years' experience in development of information systems
- Minimum 10 years' experience with UML or Case Tools
- Experience in Service Bus Architecture
- Experience with relational databases
- Experience in web technologies
- Minimum a total of 3 years in one or more of the following areas: UML, SOA, JEE, web 2.0, DBMS or specific design or architectural tool.
