Java Application Support Engineer

Yoh has a career enhancing contract opportunity for an experienced JAVA APPLICATION SUPPORT ENGINEER to join our premiere client in Wilmington, DE.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- As Java Application Support Engineer, you'll install, maintain, support, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux Web Servers and their associated networking devices. There are many systems, some virtualized, but VMWare is not a requirement.
- This person will be responsible for implementing, and supporting next generation systems, architectures, and applications.
- Web Server and related networking support for Java environment in world class dev environment
- Editrf UNIX Shell Scripts (this could include PHP, Perl, and Python as well).
- Designs and maintain technical requirements and specification documentation.
- Monitors Java application and system logs for errors.
- Coordinates testing, rollout, and deployment of Microsoft and UNIX Servers.
- Performs basic Cisco networking, Citrix Netscaler, and BigIP F5 load balancing configuration.
- Built QA environments for testing (including Servers and networks).
- Recommend new hardware/software to maintain a high standard of performance and to meet user growth requirements
- Serves as technical troubleshooter on Workstation, network, and server hardware and application issues.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Three (3) plus years of IT experience supporting Java and QA environments
- Good understanding of Web and Application or Middleware Servers, such as Tomcat, JBoss, and Apache HTTP Web Server
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Self starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience using Microsoft Windows Active Directory
- Networking and Communications (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS)
- Scripting Support for Application Logs - Shell, Perl, JavaScript, PHP, or Perl
- Ideally will have worked in Agile/Scrum/Kan Ban environment
- The ideal candidate would be a problem solver with a degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Due to the nature of the role, someone with at least three (3) or more years of web server support experience would do best in this opportunity.
