For several of the EU's DG, Ordina is currently searching experienced Java Application Developers willing to work as consultant at the EU.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS

The services to be provided are at the level APPLICATION DEVELOPER, with experience in the technical environment mentioned below. The types of tasks included in the service will concentrate on supporting the Commission staff in the area of project management activities, requirements analysis and specification, or on the more technical applications design and support (but less frequently), as described below. However, work assignments in the IT unit are flexible within the requirements of the profile requested, and strengths in other areas will also be of interest.

The tasks will be the following: Nature of the tasks
- Development and maintenance of software applications
- Development and integration of technological components
- Implementation of user requirements.
- Prototyping
- Elaboration of test programs
- Integration with other applications
- Writing of technical documentation
- Assistance with deployment and configuration of the system
- Participation in meetings with the project teams.

Knowledge and skills
- In depth knowledge of application development environments
- Good knowledge of the design and development of web and multi-tier applications
- Good knowledge of modelling tools (e.g. UML)
- Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g. RUP, AGILE)
- Knowledge of relational database systems
- Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments
- Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication.
- Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team.

Other interest: API Java J2SE / Java SE: AWT, Swing, Java 2D, JavaSound, JDBC, SAX, DOM, JNI, multi-threading, CORBA. J2EE / Java EE: Servlet, JSP, JavaMail, JMS, EJB. Others: Struts, Hibernate, Ant, JUnit, Abbot, Java 3D, SWT / JFace, LiveConnect, CLDC / MIDP / J2ME.

Education and experience
- Minimum a total of 3 years of relevant studies and/or experience after the secondary school
- Minimum a total of 3 years of experience with one or more of the following: development tools / environments / languages (e.g. Java, JEE, ANT), or in modelling tools (e.g. UML).
- Proven practical experienced in J2EE
- At least 1 year of experience with multi-user SQL-based databases, preferably Oracle.
- Minimum 1 years of experience with HTML and XML/XSL data representation languages)
- Fluent in English, knowledge of French will be an asset

- A keen sense of teamwork, a flexible approach, strong interpersonal and communication skills
