J2EE/SQL App Developer

Job Description:

A Fortune 500 company seeks an energetic problem solver with proficiency in the area of J2EE, SQL and Object Oriented Analysis and design principles.  This applicant must be highly motivated to meet project deadlines and technology challenges. The Information Technology Department is searching for a qualified candidate to join a dynamic new development team working to further automate the transportation field work. 

This position provides the opportunity for the individual to be involved with Back Office web development, data warehouse and report development.  Development responsibilities include overall application design and development, stubbing out critical application components using J2EE, DB2 DB and SQL. Other responsibilities include 24x7 support for mission critical applications, problem trouble-shooting and resolution.

Education: 

4-year College Degree preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field

Responsibilities:

5+ years in an enterprise information technology environment with much of the last three years spent developing Java based Client Server applications

3+ years developing applications using SQL against relational databases.

Experience developing and supporting mission critical applications running 24x7

Experience developing applications within a disciplined development methodology such as SDLC, UML, etc.

Provides proactive advice and feedback throughout the development life cycle for prevention and early correction of quality problems.

Create technical and functional design documents. Create, validate and enhance prototypes for projects

Analyze and design technical solutions for complex business requirements

Development to include new product development, customizations and enhancements

Well-seasoned in the creation of efficient SQL queries and understands how to optimize them for performance.

Skills:

Required:

3 - 5 years of application development using Java, JSP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS

J2EE Experience

Excellent Object Oriented Design skills

Excellent Web Development skills in Client Server environment

Thorough knowledge of Relational Databases and SQL development.

Familiarity with testing methodologies, strategies, and automated tools 

Strong teamwork ethic and customer support focus

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:  

Weblogic

Use of JavaScript frameworks like ExtJS and JQuery

Thorough Understanding of Relational Databases including DB2 and SQL Server (SSIS/SSRS)

Spring and dependency use dependency injection

Good Understanding of system design techniques and user interface design

Experience as a technical development lead role

Process:

This position is in our mid-town Atlanta office building with an immediate start date. This is a contract-to-permanent position opportunity. In addition to the interview process, contractor candidates must participate in an HR evaluation session to determine future permanent employment eligibility. US citizens and those authorized to work in the US are encouraged to apply.  We are unable to sponsor Visa candidates at this time.  Upon successful and satisfactory performance of duties the candidate will be converted to a Full time position. Duration of contract trial period is expected to last between 3 and 6 months.  Contractor is expected to supply his/her own cell phone for work related calls and text pages.
