JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview of business area or project:
Business area: Corporate Functions/Group Chief Officer/Group Chief Technology Officer/End User Services/Engineering
Project: "Email Boundary End-of-Life Remediation" is an investment project to life cycle the bank's global E-Mail routing infrastructure, including its monitoring and reporting components, until 2019.
Technical Product: The Email boundary & backbone layer is the perimeter infrastructure that performs email hygiene, policy enforcement, directory and routing to the end user's mailbox regardless of organization and e-mail system. The E-Mail Boundary Layer connects all corporate applications and mailing systems sending and receiving e-mail with each other and with the Internet. The aforementioned applications belong to the following categories: mailbox providers, email-enabled applications, IB Unix systems or other mail-sending devices such as fax, SMS, and others.
E-Mail transport between the various bank groups along with the Internet is deemed as a vital communication system for the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support email boundary engineers with business-as-usual requests (create, test and document email routing and policy changes).
- Contribute to Email Boundary infrastructure life-cycling (testing, documentation, Scripting, automation).
Overview of the department/team (team size, backgrounds, personalities ):
- Boundary Engineering (MLFE 23) is a small team of 4 senior system engineers located in Zürich.
- We are Embedded in a global IT organization ("End User Services") and we use English and German to work with our peers.
- To provide our service, we closely work together with Boundary Operations (two teams of system administrators located in Zürich and Raleigh), with Product Management and with Project Managers (both based in Zürich).
Challenges Contractor will be facing in this role:
- The usual challenges in a global corporation.
- Learning curve: Our mail routing infrastructure is based on a standard product (Proofpoint Sentrion Appliances), but rather customized. We do not expect that they have this but they should have similar experience.
Essentials Skills and Qualifications:
- Evidenced experience with email infrastructures in a global corporation
- Advanced skills in Scripting (Shell, Perl, Python), subversion and rpm package management
- Advanced subject matter expertise with Linux-based MTA products and LDAP DATABASE
- Advanced expertise with authentication and authorization in Linux
- Test & automate tests
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of network services (SSH, TLS, DNS, Firewalls, load balancers)
- Familiarity with Nagios and Splunk products would be a plus
