System Test Manager

Our client is a FTSE 100 leader in the Energy sector with an opening for a contract IT System Test Manager. As part of their Smart Metering Transformation Programme their internal IT systems are being prepared for the roll out of the Smart Meters. This will be focussed on those systems required to handle the large amounts of data which will be required when the meters are in place, and the hardware required to support both that and the new processes.

This role is Test Manager for the Domestic Customer project.

Key skills required:

- Proven track record working as a Test Manager delivering large IT projects involving external third party suppliers
- ISEB or ISTQB certification is essential
- Knowledge of smart metering is an advantage

Responsibilities:

- Take responsibility for all phases of testing and the management of the testing activities within the project, including resource planning
- Plan the test phases and coordinate the execution of these plans
- Coordinate all activities and all testers during each testing phase of the project
- Produce progress reports as required for the project manager and programme test manager
- Take responsibility for early life-cycle validation and verification
- Take responsibility for the production and approval of all testing deliverables and achievement of testing milestones during a project
- Manage all risks associated with the testing and take preventative action when any risks become unacceptable
- Provide authoritative advice and guidance to colleagues on any aspect of testing, including training for testers and other developers where appropriate
- Ensure that any risks associated with the agreed test strategy and the system test plan are clearly documented and reported to the project manager and programme test manager
- Identify improvements to the process and assist in their implementation.
