IT SUPPORT ENGINEER

On behalf of our client, a well renowned Global IT Company, we are currently looking for an IT Support Engineer for a fixed term contract for 12 months with view to extend up to 5 years.

ROLE IS BASED IN ZURICH START: ASAP

SKILLS:

- Excellent expertise in troubleshooting hardware and operating system related issues for Desktops and Laptops(windows XP, 7)
- 3 years + experience with laptop/desktop H/W & S/W experience with major OEM's and of the shelf software
- Initially 1st level support however candidate would be fully managed and supported with additional requirements beyond the tech normal day to day activities .
- Looking for a good level 1 technician who must be able to speak English.
- Advanced Remote troubleshooting skills on Windows operating systems, desktop applications and LAN troubleshooting and Knowledge on OS performance tuning.
- Working with other IT groups to resolve and analyze BSOD, application crashes, event log issues (WMI/DCOM/etc.) and other performance issues that may be a result of outdated or incompatible drivers/firmware
- Ensuring compliance of updates and patches on all workstations is up to date
- Ability to generate the reports from the deployment tools like SCCM.
- Patch management, Software distribution knowledge using SCCM 2007
- Managing the install base: Drivers/Firmware/Patches/Service Packs
- Drive continuous improvement of OS stability, performance and client experience. Proactive monitoring of system event logs and health in order to drive out chronic issues within the Windows clients
- Expertise in installing, configuring and troubleshooting printer, scanner, plug and play devices, POS equipment's, PDA's, Kiosk, MFD, Iphone, Ipad, handheld devices like blackberry etc. and related issues.
- Advanced Knowledge in Shrink wrapped products like Microsoft Office, MS Project, Visio, Adobe suite, Dreamweaver, Outlook.
- Knowledge on antivirus client software troubleshooting, patch and hotfix installations and troubleshooting.
- Awareness of virtual concepts and different technologies used in virtualization (Citrix, VMware, HyperV)
- Knowledge on Virtual desktop implementation (VDI), experience on building VM's with standardized OS images and different virtualization technologies (VMware, Citrix, HyperV)
- Knowledge in Windows Active Directory concepts, user/group administration
- Troubleshooting experience on Windows 8
- Incident management, Problem management, Change management
