IT Support Engineer

IT SUPPORT ENGINEER HOUSTON, TX 6 MONTH CONTRACT

We re looking for a strong computer professional who is able to prioritize workload and maintain a positive relationship with various personalities. The hybrid skill requirement is for an individual with equal comfort with IT infrastructure and application support, and with drilling operations and drilling data models. The work location is in West Houston.

The candidate must have the maturity to work independently, and the character to represent the team to the local customer community. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting of complex issues with IT infrastructure, applications and telecommunications. It requires the ability to drive and coordinate support activities from multiple support teams. It requires hands-on configuration of data mapping, and troubleshooting of data transmission and data integrity issues from the data source at the drill site. This is a standard Monday through Friday business hour role, plus on-call duties as part of a team rotation.

KEY IT SKILLS:

- Domain Admin/System Engineer experience
- Server Hardware and Software installation and troubleshooting
- Networking experience with Routers, Switches, subnetting and routing tables
- Operating Systems: Windows 2003-2008, VMware ESXi
- Video Conferencing equipment experience
- Technical Writing/Analysis to document root causes/documentation
- Knowledge of VMware
- Cognitive of Fortigate Firewalls
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Awareness of the ITIL process

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Takes ownership of issues/problems and see them to completion
- Provides weekly status reports to Team Lead on outstanding issues
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Follows standard support process and procedures
- Maintains professional appearance & behavior
- Must be safety conscious
- Background security check and drug test required
- Physical Requirement: Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds

PREFERRED WELLS/DRILLING SKILLS:

- Field experience with drilling operations
- Knowledge of Health and Safety practices at drill rigs
- Data Mapping (eg WITS, WITSML, OPC)
- Wells/Drilling application familiarity (eg Insite, Pronova, Petrel)
- Understanding of logging while drilling (LWD), measurement while drilling (MWD), and Directional Drilling (DD)
