Our client is looking for an IT Support/Developer with some Telecoms experience for an ASAP. Start. Contract in Switzerland, based in Zurich, generous salary.

Network certifications
Microsoft certifications
Linux certifications
JAVA/C++/PHP development experience
MySQL/Oracle developer experience
Oracle BI experience
.NET programming and Microsoft SQL Server NOT required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
IT technical support members monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks within the
company's Swiss infrastructure. They may install and configure computer systems, diagnose
hardware/software faults and solve technical and applications problems, either over the phone or in
person. The company rely on computer systems in all areas of their operations and decision-making processes. It is therefore crucial to ensure the correct running and maintenance of the IT systems.
The work is as much about understanding how information systems are used as applying technical
knowledge related to computer hardware or software. For the developer aspect - designs, codes, tests, corrects and documents large and/or complex programs and program modifications from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well engineered result. Takes part in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.

installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications;
monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;
talking staff/clients through a series of actions, either face to face or over the telephone to help set up systems or resolve issues;
troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults;
replacing parts as required;
providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;
following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system;
supporting the roll-out of new applications;
setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;
responding within agreed time limits to call-outs;
working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate);
prioritising and managing many open cases at one time;
rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, eg, software developers;
testing and evaluating new technology;

Due to the nature of the work, you may be expected to work shifts or be on call. It may also be necessary to work extra hours to finish a job.
Considerable client contact is usually required.
If you have responsibility for hardware or networks, you may have to lift and carry equipment and stretch to access items in awkward places. The dress code tends to be casual, reflecting the physical nature of the work, but you are expected to maintain a reasonable standard of smartness.
Travel within a working day is sometimes needed and may be required at short notice.
