This is a 12 month contract opportunity. Overview
Our Client is seeking an Information Technology Solutions Architect.
In this role, the selected resource will oversee all aspects of the project life cycle, from initial kickoff through requirements analysis, design and implementation phases for projects within solution area.Role and Responsibilities
The IT Solutions Architect will be responsible designing IT solutions supporting the requirements of geology and geophysics (G&G) science disciplines. These IT Solutions are developed and delivered via the execution a Project. Solutions will encompass a wide scope of technology architecture including IT infrastructure (desktop, server and database), application configurations (COTS), and integration points. The ideal candidate will understand the unique challenges supporting G&G solutions and have architecture experience within this environment.
As a member of both the Enterprise Architecture and Geology, Geophysics and Reservoir Engineering IT Services team, the IT Solution Architect will need to align with current governing Architectural resources (ie Standards, Principals, Roadmaps, etc.).
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related
- 5+ years experience with G&G projects in technical IT roles
- 2+ years experience working in an IT Solutions Architecture capacity with a focus in the oil and gas industry
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical applications and their data requirements to develop innovative and logical solutions
- Experience initiating, influencing, and gaining support across all key stakeholders of a Project (ie Business representatives, Project Team, Technical Operations, Vendors, etc.)
- Experience documenting architectural design plans and technology roadmaps
- Demonstrated knowledge in Geology and Geophysical IT Systems. That is, has working knowledge of commonly used G&G applications and their IT requirements (ie network, storage, data, desktop, and security)
- Demonstrated expert knowledge in the creation and maintenance of Architecture Deliverables (Design documents, Security alignment, Test Strategies, etc.)
- Demonstrated architecture experience within a well-structured Project Management discipline.
Desired Skills:
- Understanding of oil and gas industry
- Knowledge of ITIL V3 Framework
- Segment architecture experience
- Experience performing architecture governance
- Knowledge of TOGAF, PEAF, Zachman or some related Enterprise Architecture Framework/Topology.
Soft Skills:
- Superior organization skills, with the ability to set priorities, follow-up and meet deadlines
- Solid leadership, facilitation and negotiation skills
- Display tact and good judgment in resolving problems and answering inquiries
- Ability to work independently in a very busy, varied, and diverse environment with changing priorities
- Ability to communicate complex and technical concepts clearly and appropriately with non-technical as well as technical personnel
- A high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
