IT RELEASE MANAGER PORTLAND, OR 12 MONTH CONTRACT

We are seeking an experienced Release Manager/Environment Coordinator to organize, direct, and manage activities for building and maintaining the environments necessary to ensure successful software releases to both the non-production and production environments. The Release Manager/ENV may facilitate large multidiscipline releases in a Matrix management organization. Candidate directs activities to ensure the appropriate environments meet quality standards and readiness objectives within defined time and budget targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provides direction, planning, coordination, and reporting for overall release environment activities related to the Enterprise IT Application Group.
- Coordinates the cross-organization and cross-platform resources needed to implement the release, facilitates the release meetings, and develops and tracks release activities based on the schedule.
- Identifies release impacts to ensure that these are planned into the release plans.
- Maintains a cross-platform release window calendar.
- Attends Scrum daily stand-ups and reports on release progress and provides release guidance as needed.
- Reviews and provides guidance for Test Plans, Test Summary, and Technical Release Plans.
- Organizes and facilitates release retrospectives.
- Fosters transparency and feedback by raising impediments and by presenting information using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Promotes continuous improvement.
- Coaches/trains Scrum teams on the effective use of Release planning.
- Collate and track all environment needs: Maximo, Logica, and External.
- Work closely with Technical Architecture Group to determine environment specifications.
- Coordinate environment activities with Deployment, Development, and Test Teams.
- Work closely with Release Management Lead and Release Manager to ensure environment readiness for build releases and smoke tests.
- Define and gather acceptance of environment approach and schedule.
- Create detailed schedule for environment management (planning and roll-out).
- Facilitate entry of environment-related tasks into pertinent release and project schedules.
- Define and foster approach for handling environment conflicts across various teams.
- Coordinate environment and/or data refreshes, roll-backs, etc.
- Manage impacts to environments due to schedule or scope shift.
- Communicate, resolve, and escalate issues.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- 7- 10 years relevant experience in a software development or delivery organization
- 1+ years experience as a Full time Release Manager in the Scrum/Agile environment
- Strong project management skills
- CSM certification or through understanding of Scrum and Agile principles, values, and practices
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring, coaching, and leadership
- Experience delivering one or more products through all phases of the SDLC
- Very strong communication, collaboration, feedback, and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated mature judgment in a leadership role
- Knowledge of testing and defect tracking tools and excellent presentation and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills
- Capability to develop and maintain an effective network of relationships with people inside and outside the development and testing groups

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience leading project teams
- Experience and/or knowledge of Maximo and Logica software
- Technical background in information technology management and strong process knowledge of System Development Life Cycles
