IT Project Manager (9 month fixed term contract)

The firm is rapidly developing a national reputation for its innovative approach to delivering legal services, and for its strengths in the financial services, leisure, retail, built environment and technology and media industry sectors.

They are a full service law firm providing industry focused multi-discipline integrated solutions. Their core legal specialism's are real estate, banking and finance, commercial, corporate, employment, dispute resolution and litigation.

Position: Project Manager
Location: Bristol
Salary: £Competitive
Duration: 9 months FTC

ROLE:
The role of the Project Manager is to guide their team responsible for management standards and provides guidance and support across the firm. They will provide support in the form of management, advice; guidance and analysis to ensure all initiatives are planned and executed using structured management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Proactively manage, plan, structure and lead multiple concurrent projects. Responsible for delivery and the enforcement of deadlines and schedules.
b) Identify stakeholders and gain buy-in and support, also actively manage and communicate with stakeholders. Communicate and apply standards and communicate needed changes to team.
c) Maintain up to date documentation and summaries showing progress against outstanding milestones, status, resource requirements, issues, risks and dependencies. Consistently delivers high-quality service to clients.
d) Document workflows and results of business analysis and obtain sign-off from client on the specifications.
e) Collaborate with subject matter experts (eg developers) to establish the technical vision and analyse tradeoffs between usability and functional/performance needs.
f) Evaluate information gathered and distinguish user requests from the underlying true business needs. Work with the client to identify required changes and supervise test scenarios, scripts and plans.
g) Review and update requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.
h) Ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.
i) Management of change in relation to the schedule and ensure agreed deadlines are met. Extract business requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
j) Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal clients to analyse informational needs and functional requirements.
k) Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.
l) Drive and challenge business teams on their assumptions of how the solution will meet their needs.
m) Be the liaison between the business units, technology and support teams. Serve as the link between the client and the team.
n) At the end of the contract period deliver a thorough hand over.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Proven experience writing specifications for IT systems/requirements and running a wide range of IT projects include software development, infrastructure and application customisation and deployment projects.
b) Strong analytical and management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret the client's business need and translate them into business/operational requirements.
c) Solid technical/IT understanding in a legal environment and results orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills.
d) End to end experience of the life cycle with experience picking up in flight projects and experience in rescue and recovery.
e) Proven experience interacting, working and communicating directly with end users.
f) Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
g) Delivers informative, well-organised presentations and updates understanding how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
h) Continually seeks opportunities to increase client satisfaction and further client relationships. Manages client expectations effectively.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Qualifications such as APMP or Prince 2 desirable.
