IT Project Manager

Our retail client requires a Project Manager to ensure that bespoke IT solutions are delivered to the business within the timescales and to the quality expected.

You will have overall responsibility for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, control of development projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working closely with the client to understand the governance and high-level business requirements for the project, developing effective working relationships and ongoing management processes for the project.

Defining the deliverables, resource requirements and work plan for the project, and managing the analysis, development and delivery phases.

Ensuring that the project is delivered within the financial requirements of the Business Unit.

Estimating and planning projects from start to finish, with built-in contingencies.

Ensuring projects follow project life cycle processes and meet industry leading quality standards.

Managing, monitoring and motivating the cross functional team assigned to the project.

Conducting project presentations, compiling standard status reports and keeping all stakeholders regularly informed regarding progress with the project.

Occasionally

Assisting the Project Sponsor with the creation of benefits cases and ROI statements to aid the Project Assessment and Project Initiation processes.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

A highly motivated individual who thrives on working in a fast-paced retail environment.

The ability to multi-task and manage up to 8 concurrent projects.

A proven track record of successful IT project implementations in a retail environment.

Comfortable Matrix-managing project teams of up to 10 people.

Excellent client facing skills - able to communicate at all levels: from Managing Director down to end user.

The ability to foster motivation within the project team to meet tight deadlines.

The ability to have a strong impact and influence key decisions.

The ability to facilitate workshops and chair meetings efficiently.

IT CAPABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge, and practical experience, of Prince 2 project management methodology

Excellent MS Project skills,

Competent in MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Three or more years relevant experience managing complex IT projects or programmes within the RETAIL INDUSTRY.

Experience of the whole project life cycle, able to operate in the initial conceptual design stage, in the depths of system testing, and at each stage in between.

Experience of Agile software development techniques

Experience of managing 3rd party suppliers in the provision of project deliverables
