IT PROJECT MANAGER HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO 12 MONTH CONTRACT

MUST HAVE SKILLS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Candidates must have PMP Certification and minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably using formal project management methodologies.

NICE TO HAVE: Payments industry background and also experience managing multiple projects are preferred. Understanding of project methodologies is also a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Our client operates the world's largest retail electronic payments network and is one of the most recognized global financial services brands. This enterprise facilitates global commerce through the transfer of value and information among financial institutions, merchants, consumers, businesses and government entities.

The candidate will join the Corporate Information Technology Project Management Office (PMO) and will be responsible for successful project delivery while working with matrixed teams composed of Systems Analysis, Vendor, Development, QA, Operations, and Business personnel.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Jointly manage multiple large projects with other project managers; independently own and manage multiple small to medium-sized projects, including change requests, BAU initiatives, etc.
- Read and understand detailed business and technical requirements.
- Manage requirements traceability matrixes to track requirements progression through various SDLC phases.
- Identify key stakeholders and work to achieve project objectives.
- Create detailed project schedules, Gantt charts, critical paths, etc.
- Regularly monitor and report on project progress.
- Manage project status reports, issues, action items, risks, change logs, internal and external dependencies, etc.
- Follow up on issues and action items, progressing them towards resolution.
- Facilitate project status meetings, requirements and design discussions, and defect status reviews.
- Coordinate the project estimating process; manage project budgets and forecasts.
- Work with vendors to develop, review, and execute contracts.
- Develop innovative methods to effectively manage project constraints.
- Own and manage project SharePoint sites, Project Work Books (PWB), and project communication plans.
- Work with project teams to enforce compliance requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, IT, or a related field
- PMP Certification required
- 5+ years of project management experience required, preferably using formal project management methodologies
- Experience with payments systems or billing applications a plus
- Proven experience in managing people, processes, and projects in a heavily matrixed organizational structure required
- Experience with managing multiple concurrent projects
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in the delivery of large-scale software development, operational, and integration efforts
- Working knowledge of the software development life cycle from requirements gathering to post-implementation production support, including quality assurance and system integration
- Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices
- Ability to understand complex business requirements and functions
- Ability to understand complex systems and their interfaces
- Well organized, with great planning and execution skills and attention to detail
- Adaptability and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage one's time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate with technical and business experts at all levels of the organization
- Solid analytical skills; ability to think strategically and creatively
- Knowledge of computer software/tools, such as Microsoft Word, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, Clarity, etc.
