IT Project Manager

Plan and deliver medium and large scale IT Projects. Lead virtual project teams in the delivery of the projects. Project is SAP upgrade and patch application project. Experience of SAP useful. Full-time to the management of a large IT-related project. On other occasions may be managing a number of concurrent smaller projects.

DUTIES: project scoping, procurement, implementation, integration and major upgrades. Major challenges include competing for scarce specialist resources, ensuring commitment of stakeholders, managing suppliers, accommodating changing IMT priorities, keeping within budget and resource constraints and dealing effectively with all levels of staff within services. Develop and agree projects briefs and Project Initiation Documents (including resource requirements, timescales and deliverables) for large IT-related projects, to ensure common understanding of, and agreement to, the project. Facilitate meetings representing stakeholders /senior managers from services, and ensure the achievement of project milestones. Develop project/resource plans for large-scale IT Projects. Responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the project, to ensure project plans are adhered to, milestones achieved and the project reached successful completion to agreed time, cost and quality criteria. Identify and manage project risks and implement measures to counter them so that they do not adversely affect the delivery of the project. Negotiate with, and manage, suppliers (frequently external commercial organisations) to ensure their successful and timely contribution to the project. Proficient in management of 3rd parties. Proficient in the use of PRINCE 2 (or equivalent project management methodology). Experience of using MS Project (or comparable project management tool) for project planning and monitoring. Experience of working within local government an advantage but not essential. Experience of SAP useful
