Task: Troubleshoot technical problems, analyse them and resolve the problems in a critical IT production environment. Managing communication with internal clients within the Business and other IT teams (eg Application Development, Technology Infrastructure Services)
Own and manage incidents through to resolution including investigating complex problems involving multiple systems and involving other IT teams as required
Act as a leader during major incidents - helping to engage other teams as required and driving resolution of incidents having major impact to our business
Act as a key stakeholder within development projects to ensure quality within software delivery and onboarding of knowledge from Application Development teams
Performing out-of-hours work as required within a compensated and pre-allocated shift to provide support for application deployments and support of critical batch jobs/overseas businesses

Requirements:
The successful candidate shall have a proven experience as a Support Specialist in UNIX/Linux, Windows 2008 Server or and Oracle Databases. Sound database querying and monitoring skills are required for this role.

Experience with Unix (eg handling files, searching logs, checking processes) or and experience with SQL querying (Oracle/Microsoft SQL)
*NB - training will be given on missing querying language for example (you are a Microsoft specialist, you'll be given training on UNIX commands)
Strong team player
Good problem-solving skills;
Ideally 2-4 years experience required
Experience in large companies is advantageous
Experience in writing technical documentation is required
Self-driven, reliable and proactive personality with the ability to set priorities according to the company's significances
Shifts are worked and the occasional standby on a 5 week rota basis as is the occasional monthly Saturday to be worked

Education:
BSc or higher university education
Certification in either UNIX, Oracle or Microsoft SQL 2008

Languages: Excellent English and ideally conversational German
