IT Ops Engineer

A leading banking client of mine is looking for an IT Ops engineer to join an exiting project in the heart of Amsterdam. As an IT op engineer you have at least a HBO level and experience with and knowledge of multi-tier applications. In addition, you have in-depth knowledge of databases, application Servers and operating systems.

Understanding and knowledge of detailed technical behaviour of own system at normal and peak load. Experience with the lead in risks related to performance of the application after changes releases. Understanding and technical knowledge of the whole stack' that the application runs on. Understanding how your application fits into the entire chain of which it is part. You master at least one Scripting language and you have knowledge of software development. You are familiar with automation of Testing and Deployment.

The Ops Engineer is primarily responsible for the stability of its own application, identifies application and system related problems and takes the lead in resolving an incident. Your tasks consist of monitoring, managing, study, testing and running the application. You proactively monitor technical behaviour and performance through all aspects of the entire stack to prevent problems. This means that you can contribute to the realisation of all activities in the backlog.

You are an expert in Linux and your preference is for Scripting of manual actions. You have good knowledge of Middleware, such as Tibco, Tomcat, Cassandra and Oracle. You tuned continue the performance and capacity of the systems you manage, without losing sight of the costs. You help your team maintain and improve the development environments (such as the build server, Jenkins & Sonar)

Candidates with 85 % of the following experience will be considered.

Engineering

- You have an up-to-date view on IT expertise.
- Deploying and running of Production system, you provide Level 2 support your application.
- You specify, design, and perform Performance and Acceptance
- tests (including High Availability and Disaster Recovery Tests) with the help of the Dev Engineer.
- Specify, design, test and deploy the runtime scripts (eg stop/start/purge/backup). Specify, design, test and deployment of roll-back scripts. You configure and implement Monitoring
- Tooling (for 24x7 monitoring of the Master Control Room (MCR) with use of correct Event Alerts, agreed with the MCR.
- Experience in implementing monitoring procedures and systems (such as Graphite, LogStash, Grafana),
- Strong knowledge or Linux with the ability to install, configure, analyse, maintain, optimize, troubleshoot, manage the operating systems, Middleware and networks Experience working with network architecture including VPNs, load balancers, Firewalls, Switches, and Routers
- Solid experience in the automation or operational processes using a Continuous Delivery Pipeline (such as Nolio)
- Experience in operating database management systems (such as Oracle, Cassandra)
- Experience in operating Middleware such as Tomcat, TIBCO Enterprise Bus, JVMs
