JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for managing, providing leadership and guidance to the Infrastructure as a Service virtualization team. The services and support provided by this organization include the hypervisor base products, hypervisor server hardware, both non-consolidated and consolidated, virtualization management and orchestration software, automation/orchestration support, virtual networking, virtual storage, and future Platform as a Service components. The Virtualization Infrastructure Manager is responsible for ensuring that the virtualization environments are created and maintained without defects, deliver consistent results, capacity management is complete and effective, and service levels are met. The Virtualization Infrastructure Manager is responsible for supervising and providing daily work direction, resource management, and team prioritization as well as compliance with all processes and procedures. The virtual infrastructure hardware and software costs associated with this role is millions of dollars and is the responsibility of the Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field required
- 5 years of experience providing design, management or support for virtual computing infrastructure and related software preferred
- 5 years supervisory experience
- Understand/achieve IT, organizational, and departmental goals, strategies and business plans
- Basic knowledge of server virtualization technologies, eg, VMWare, Hyper-V and XenServer
- Ability to understand capacity management and performance metrics as it relates to server virtualization
- Basic knowledge of Windows server, and Linux operating systems/Dell hardware and network topology.
- Ability to partner to establish a governance model in virtualization technologies
- Effective human relations and interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships
- Has the flexibility to adapt to change and will champion needed technology and organizational changes
- Attract, hire, develop, and retain an effective, diverse workforce with appropriate technical and process skills who understand that their job exists to deliver business value and satisfy customer needs
- Strong account management and customer service skills, including needs analysis, issue resolution, and making presentations
- Professional oral and written communication skills with different levels of staff and management
- Manage the organization as a business with emphasis on effective planning, leadership, budgeting, cost control, communication and high quality service delivery that meet customer needs in a changing business environment
- Ability to identify and provide mentoring and coaching opportunities for employees
- Ability to negotiate with and influence others

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervise and develop staff to ensure virtualization services are performed in a timely and reliable manner, according to engineering/industry specifications
- Work closely with leadership across other IT organizations to ensure appropriate resources and support procedures are in place to meet customer requests and project work
- Provide guidance to the team in daily operations, ensure full compliance with standards/regulations and help define the future direction for this team to meet changing business needs
- Provide input to the departmental budget and financial spend decisions
