IT Infrastructure Engineer

The IT INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER is a seasoned technical professional who is capable of optimizing and tailoring specific IT infrastructure to best meet business needs. Within the engineering discipline the individual with advanced tools will monitor and insure infrastructure is running according to standard and be able to troubleshoot all server and infrastructure-related issues, while measuring impact to the business. The Engineer will implement and maintain systems, IT environments and data centers and be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of all IT infrastructure systems hardware and software related to infrastructure. The incumbent will assist with policies, installs, upgrades, full configuration, testing, validation and maintenance in support of the production IT infrastructure environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- In-depth theory and hands-on infrastructure experience with desire to support multiple complex engineering and implementation tasks according to standards and best practice.
- Advanced ability to isolate issues and methodically troubleshoot issues performance issues and systems outages.
- Must be able to maintain consistently effective day-to-day technical customer support in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work both project and operational issues/tickets, providing guidance to team members and meeting deadlines for appropriate resolution.
- Ability to clearly articulate and demonstrate excellent verbal and written technical communication skills and to build and maintain effective relationships with peers and less technical team members.
- Assist in process improvement focusing on technical tools, hardware and software geared to enable automation and environment simplification.
- Provide after-hours support/on-call duties.
- Assist in creating standards and guidelines for various technologies.
- Provide best practice in updating tickets and documentation for quicker problem resolution.
- Implement, manage, monitor, and support IT infrastructure and enterprise systems including but not limited to Routers, Switches, Servers and applications that support business critical applications.
- Provide support on major outages identified as business critical with high level business impact.
- Use change management process to proactively keep environment availability at highest level possible.
- Support all virtual technologies.
- Work in Tandem with third party vendors to resolve high impact issues affecting IT infrastructure.
- Implement major optimization and upgrade efforts.
- Provide support and technical expertise in network technology, server application implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure maximum uptime for production systems.
- Install, configure, and support server operating systems and applications.
- Assist in implementing standard design and controls.
- Participate in new technology evaluations.
- Identify and make recommendations for areas of continuous improvement.
- Create technical documentation for new and existing systems including maintenance procedures and server infrastructure.
- Adhere to IT and organization policies, standards, processes and procedures while making recommendations for improving.
- Mentor and serve as an escalation point for other IT Staff.
- Participate in hardware evaluations, standards recommendations, and process improvements.
- Provide after hour and on-call support as assigned.
- Leads projects or participates on project teams as assigned.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree in information systems, computer science or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 12+ years of infrastructure experience within complex environments
- 10+ years in an engineering role with clear growth in a foundational infrastructure discipline
- 8+ years of high level infrastructure support experience
- Microsoft-related certifications preferred, CISCO related certifications desired
