Cambridge Assessment 2015 IT Graduate Programme

IT Graduate Trainee - Architecture (Job Ref: IS852)

Full Time 18 Months Fixed Term Contract

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £21,000

The perfect foundation for a great career. If you are inquisitive, curious and keen to learn, then this intensive full time 18-month programme could be perfect for you. Don't think for a moment that you're going to be stuck behind a screen for 18 months! We want you to develop a really well-rounded skill set in terms of both technology and business, to kick-start your IT career.

WHAT WE OFFER
When we said 'intensive', we meant it, but there's plenty of support every step of the way. You'll have a line manager and a buddy, as well as a mentor who'll be there for you through your whole experience.

Reporting to the Head of IT Architecture, you will work amongst a team of expert IT architects operating across the Cambridge Assessment organisation. You'll be paired with an experienced architect from the Cambridge Assessment IT Architecture team and in your role, will initially support an architect working on the infrastructure transformation whilst learning the analytical skills and the structure of the Cambridge Assessment organisation.

The role will include researching and collating materials from internal and external subject matter experts, working with architects to analyse the current state of business processes and IT systems and translating recommendations and future state models into clear communications to share with project teams and key stakeholders.

With comprehensive technical, soft skills training and on-the job training, you will also get the chance to learn best practices and guidelines across the industry.

While you're on the programme, you'll be an employee with full employee benefits including paid holidays and pension. At the end of it, we aim to offer you a permanent role which matches your abilities, talents and aspirations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
A burning interest in (and a real passion for) IT is a must, together with excellent communication and teamworking skills. You're not only happy to try new things, but always ready to offer ideas and suggestions to help us improve. Open minded and flexible, you enjoy listening to others' viewpoints and learning from them.

In terms of your degree, you should have (or be expecting to achieve) at least a higher second in a science, maths, computing or engineering discipline. You will be a passionate and self-motivated graduate with strong, professional and interpersonal skills, able to communicate plainly with technical and non-technical business people and demonstrate good team behaviours. You will not need previous experience of IT architecture, but an understanding of how systems are designed will be an advantage. The ability to rapidly absorb new information and to show you have already developed some good analytical and presentation competencies will be advantageous.
