MISSION AND CONTEXT
The Environment Management IT consultant will assist in a project that is responsible for the inventory and cleanup of all applications environments.
The Environment Management IT consultant has to discuss with multiple parties to come to an up to date inventory of applications and underlying infrastructure: application managers, infrastructure team, architect and datacenter supplier.
The project is also responsible to focus on the cleanup of the SAN Storage and to deliver policies, guidelines and procedures for refresh of applications, setup of testdata and the management of the use of the applications environments by projects.
TASKS LIST
The Environment Management IT consultant will be able to cover the following activities:
-Assist in making the inventory of all the different application environments (dev, test, acceptance, production environments).
- We have +/-300 applications. For this action the consultant needs to conduct workshops and negociations with application managers, infrastructure team, RemedyForce consultant,.
- Configuration manager and facilitate and document decisions.
- Assure that this information gets loaded into the RemedyForce Configuration Management Database by the RemedyForce consultant or Configuration Manager.
- Starting from the inventory of all the different application environments review if all these environments are used or not and can be candidate to be decommissioned/down-scaled.
- For this action the consultant needs to work in close collaboration with the application managers and the infrastructure team to investigate the use of the environments.
Next to this the consultant must introduce the actions to decommission/cleanup the environments and reclaim the storage.
New policies & procedures must be created:
- To management the use of the different environments
- To refresh (assure that there is testdata) in the different environments
- To document all the steps that must be followed to refresh some application environments
BACKGROUND
- Analytical, Independent, communicative and Result oriented
- You are able to work under pressure and in a stressful environment with changing priorities.
- You can work an autonomous way but are a good team player.
- YOU ARE BUSINESS PROFICIENT IN ENGLISH, DUTCH AND FRENCH
Knowledge about 1 or more of these areas is serious plus:
- Knowledge of SAN Storage (EMC VMAX/VPLEX), NAS and Dedicated Storage Platforms
- Fundamental understanding of IT processes and operational procedures.
- Familiar with native and third party OS tools for performance, monitoring and capacity analysis.
- ITIL 2011 Service management and/or knowledge of RemedyForce.
- CMDB setup and Configuration Management Process
- You must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and strong communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to communicate in both technical and non-technical terms.
- 10+ years of experience in multiple IT areas
