IT Engineer

ROLE DESCRIPTION

As an IT engineer you will responsible for managing, organizing, and implementing, all activities for building and maintaining system releases and for the promotion of the release to the production environment. You will be responsible for developing and executing a strategy for release management that guarantees smooth and timely delivery of system products and updates. You will be responsible to test system functionalities at different stage.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Establish, document, and maintain release management processes and procedures
- Manage the end-to-end release process, from the planning of release content through actual release deployment to production environments
- Work with internal, cross-functional teams to prioritize and scope scheduled releases with completion dates
- Document and appropriately distribute all system release information
- Schedule reviews, as necessary, to ensure all stakeholders are aware of the impacts of a software release
- Work with QA teams to develop testing and migration plans
- Plan and support migrations and production deployments across multiple environments
- Ensure completion of operational and technical documentation prior to system release
- Gather necessary release notes prior to releasing into production
- Communicate expectations, issues, and accomplishments to project teams, management, and business partners
- Assist in strategic and operational planning, business process improvement, and make overall project improvement recommendations
- Establish and adhere to applicable best practices
- Adhere to project management best practices
- Other job-related duties as assigned (testing system recoveries, testing new platforms)

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES

- 2-5 years' experience
- Linux system administration experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong experience in software release management
- Strong experience in system configuration management
- Knowledge of technical architectures and development phases
- Ability to manage time effectively, to work under pressure, to meet schedules/deadlines, to multi-task, to plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments, and pay close attention to detail
- Solid problem solving skills
- Windows administration
- Jira/Confluence

DESIRABLE QUALITIES

- VMware, working with vCenter platform
- Experience with build management tools
- Degree level or equivalent
- Will have the desire to promote themselves and their team
- Oracle essentials
- Application Servers management
