THE POSITION:

The Union is seeking a qualified IT. Developer to be based in its Headquarters in central Paris . The position is permanent and the successful candidate will work as part of a global team with 2 anglophone colleagues based in India and Singapore. APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A VALID WORK PERMIT FOR FRANCE.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure that the membership database functions correctly on a daily basis
-

Develop new functions to improve the membership database
-

Build database scheme, tables, procedures, permissions, utilities and automated reporting
-

Design and document database architecture and Datamodelling
-

Create Shell Scripts for task automation
-

Develop functional specifications, algorithm, data flow and visual interface for software applications
-

Perform all necessary software maintenance, including coding, testing and debugging
-

Troubleshoot technical problems, liaise with software users when issues occur and implement proactive measures to resolve them
-

Write technical documents (user manuals, flowcharts, reports, etc.)

Perform system evaluation and make recommendations of system upgrades where applicable

Conduct training sessions for software end users
-

Perform other duties as required by the Membership Unit.

PROJECTS:

- Development of the Members only space website, including enhancing the Back Office to enable autonomy for membership staff, as well as introducing new functions such as search facilities, a reference library, blogs, forums, etc

Development of a new module for managing prospect tracking
-

On-going development of back and Front Office for elections
-

On-going development of the Back Office to automate free memberships
-

Expansion of the current systems for automatic messaging to members
-

Any additional projects required by the Membership Unit. Priorities to be determined annually and reviewed at least quarterly

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum 2 - 3 years' professional experience working in an IT-development related role.
- Graduate level in an IT-development related field.
- Demonstrated theoretical and practical basic knowledge of IT practices, policies and procedures.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- SQL, MySQL (version 5+)
- Php (version 5+)
- Zend Frameworks 1 + 2
- FTP tools
- Javascript - CSS - Ajax - Jquery
- HTML - XHTML - XML
- CMS - website tools

OTHER:

- Excellent written and spoken English (plus French or Spanish an advantage)
- Highly detailed and accuracy oriented
- Able to work independently, in liaison with multicultural teams across the world
- Proactive, well organised and able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Good at working under pressure
- Flexible in approach to work and able to anticipate and deal with changes to projects/deadlines, etc
- Experience working in an international non-for-profit organisation an advantage
