IT Architect - Pharma industry
Our multinational end client in Basel is currently looking for an IT Architect to join its team in a large programme.
Duration: 12/13 months + extensions.
Start date: January - February 2013.
ROLE PURPOSE, MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
*Define, optimize and standardize the IT architecture on a global basis within the Program.
*Define and drive system architectural standards across multiple technologies.
*Plan and organize the implementation of new systems architectures and provide consulting.
*Ensure that the installed architecture satisfies defined performance, security and availability parameters.
*Identify (preferably proactively), together with the IT solution provider, any shortcomings in performance and propose solutions for their correction. Ensure adequacy of upgrades.
*Evaluate new technological developments and evolving business requirements and makes recommendations for improved service levels and efficiencies.
*Act as the primary technical resource to client and IT staffs in all phases of development and implementation process.
*Manage a group of System Architects and System Engineers as a team lead.
*Provide in-depth technical and business knowledge to ensure efficient design, programming and implementation.
*Develop reports and presentations on infrastructure products and new technology for all levels of management and technical staff.
*Write related documentation (see Architecture Notebook) and communicate.
AS GOVERNANCE ARCHITECT:
*Analyze technical architecture to ensure the proposed architecture is fully compliant with our client's architectural policies and roadmap as well as with Data center Governance.
*Analyze and assess technical feasibility for proposed architecture.
*Identify risks (operational and compliance) around the proposed architecture and ensure identified risks are logged, followed up, and closed in a timely manner.
*Provide forecast to DC capacity team and the migration factories.
*Escalate issues beyond authority to the Head of Governance.
*Key Performance Indicators/Measures of Success.
*Achieve agreed targets in terms of quality, time and cost.
*Apply professional competency in the design of the strategy and implementation of the changes to the systems architecture.
*Be aware of the restrictions for changes set by the business-related conditions and the technical framework.
*Be aware of the cost effectiveness of IT infrastructure solutions within Pharma Development.
*Achieve customer satisfaction on infrastructure performance, security and availability and on quality of advice.
*Focus on implementing new systems architectures according to agreed schedules.
*Master project management.
JOB DIMENSION
*Autonomy: Responsibility for (very) business critical, complex data center migrations in a very large, complex business and IT organization.
*Complexity: Working together with management teams providing complex, contextual advice regarding system architecture, migration requirements and schedule.
*Is recognized as an expert for certain technology areas.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
*Minimum education: University degree or adequate equivalent.
*Languages: Fluent English written & spoken.
*Several years of experience in a data center domain role in a global company.
*6 years of proven architectural experience in an appropriate technology.
*At least fully responsible as team lead for a successful data center project.
*Proven experience with and understanding of several business domains.
*Proven management experience within a Matrix organization (eg as a team leader or in project management).
*Customer Orientation: ability to communicate & align with key IT stakeholders.
*Methodology: savvy in IT process, best practices & standards, eg ITIL.
*GxP/SOX: sound knowledge of validation practice.
*In-depth knowledge and experience in IT infrastructure and related technical integration aspects.
*Ability to cope with project and operations complexities, ambiguities and Matrix organizations.
*Local travel between the data centers (up to 10%) is important.
*Pharma experience together with a good understanding of processes/organization etc. is a true asset.
